oic, sometimes that type of work is a pain. i know of some people that have to do work in tight places like that use almost all rock filler and no concrete mix. in my area with the winter frosts it cracks and breaks all to pieces
About 15% stone to concrete mix at most. I had to tractor up 4 loads of sand/gravel (which you don’t see)… and didn’t use the entire load of stone. So there really isn’t much fill in the hole.
I’d be honored to have you stress test The Stairway To Heaven. You win either way… the stairway stands… it falls… you go to heaven… and I’ll fix dinner for you.
@OysterLava Because when the stairway is gone… sometime in the distant future… I want to look down from Heaven and laugh as the home owner tries to dig it out!
gee mark, bucketing that in by hand takes a long time.
how come you didnt park your mixer rig right next to the hole and just dump it from the drum?
Yeah… I know… Stair railing… landscaping… and I still would have had to carry the sand/gravel mix from the tractor to the mixer… small space.

You did that old school style. Even the ancient Romans would have to appreciate such use of concrete. And they are history’s concrete authority.
Hey… The Roman Outsider Artists built all their yard art foundations using slave labor… Sure! It’s in the history books!
thats a really big slab for a poll, my God!
The guy who gave me the stairway is worried it isn’t big enough… I think the pipe will bend and or break before this wad of cement will give way!
If you want, I could come up there and stress test it by climbing to the top
OR
You could climb to the top with 200 lbs. of sand bags strapped to your body.

Good lord man. Why didn’t you just fill with dirt, and a layer of concrete at the top?
