Tar Tar the Harmless Dragon is a kinetic sculpture. He’s made completely from recycled metal. “Kinetic” means energy in motion. He will move up and down for up to 10 minutes before stopping and if he’s placed outside he will constantly move gently in the wind. He came to be from the motorcycle springs and solid metal “feet” that were donated. I knew that the “feet” were heavy enough to hold a lot of leveraged weight easily. His body is made from some sort of steel ball float and his mouth is an old pair of metal calipers that were used with the pulley wheels on farm equipment to keep rocks and other debris from getting stuck between the pulley belts. Zac Shavrick sculpts a dragon. This ten foot long by eight foot tall dragon was made in about three weeks with hundreds of hours of work, all condensed into one minute of high-speed stop motion madness set to spanish guitar played by Al Dimeola. The sculpture has brake lights (off an old school bus) for eyes, a red spotlight in the mouth, and a green one in the body which makes him glow fiercely at night. This creature was created as a commission for Sullivan County Treasurer Ira Cohen and now resides in his back yard. More pictures at zacmax.blogspot.com and www.zacmax.com

Others hold them as greedy hoarders that will settle for nothing less than gold and gems. When they are kings and queens, they are often good ones, and are fair and proportionate to all dragons. Gold dragons are often mood less when in public and pleasant as friends. In Pern, they are actually the opposite. They are bossy, dominant, and self-indulgent. They can even be rude to their Weyrmates, too.
For something a little different, how about a red metal Chinese dragon garden statue?

On one hand, the dragon can be passionate and drive for what he or she does. For instance, they may enjoy terrorizing small towns. On the other, they can be a fire-breathing menace that spew blood and hate around the world. Often, these dragons are known to have a bad temperament. Many dragons in mythology are red, and many of them that are in poems are red, too. Why? Red has conflicting symbolism: blood, fire, love, and passion. It is easier to put a face on a creature with one or more of these aspects, yes? Poetic compositions especially exaggerate red. For Eastern Dragons, Red is the color of chaotic storms. The Red dragons are a symbol of the West, and they cause storms when they fight in the night. View this video on Viddler!www.viddler.com View this video on Revver! revver.com

stores.ebay.com The dragon is an obscure, mysterious character, described in broad terms, and is little more than foil to enhance the hero’s valor. Dragon is a legendary beast in the folklore of many European and Asian cultures. Legends describe dragons as large, lizardlike creatures that breathe fire and have a long, scaly tail. In Europe, dragons are traditionally portrayed as ferocious beasts that represent the evils fought by human beings. But in Asia, especially in China and Japan, the animals are generally considered friendly creatures that ensure good luck and wealth. According to some medieval legends, dragons lived in wild, remote regions of the world. The dragons guarded treasures in their dens, and a person who killed one supposedly gained its wealth. The English epic hero Beowulf died in a fight with a treasure-guarding dragon.
