Sunday Morning in Paris Fountain

This one captures the feel of waking up in Paris- Hearing the sounds of the city, smelling the fresh baked bread and the musicians on the street. It is an artful mix of the realistic and the abstract.

Assuming you want to know the truth here, to achieve all the natural-looking patinas and textures on this fountain, we had to: pound it with a variety of different hammers, run back and forth over it with my kubota, twist it into weird contortions, then untwist it, shoot it repeatedly with special bullets, heat it, quench it, then hit it with strange chemicals. All that work just to get the "look" of something you'd find in a magical copper Mine. Then...when it's all finished we cover it with optical Lexan so that the coloration remains just like the day you bought it. Our little group here is split on whether it's the wall of a Canyon: up-close, or that same Canyon viewed from 40,000 feet. Either way, it's really pretty.

If you've ever seen Fantasia and watched the amazing fairies doing their ballet to tchaikovsky's wondrous music, you get the idea of the feeling this fountain gives.  No photograph can capture the magic that is going on here...the light, the color, the sound of the water...  it's nothing short of magical

Claude Monet was always one of my very favorite painters and this is a tribute to him. I'd like to think that if he were alive today, he might enjoy sitting in his Library and listening to this fountain. Notice the brushwork on the water.  It's alive!   hope you enjoy.
